2 Things You Need To Know About The Data And Email Updates Google Did To Search Console

Search Console

With a goal to provide website owners and SEO UK experts further control over their account preferences, a couple of new features has been added to Google Search Console. With this, you can now pick if you want your Search Console property’s performance data to show in search results.

In addition, Google has enhanced the email preferences for its Console with increased selection over which kinds of emails to get.

Here are the details about these updates.

Search Console in Search Results

The search engine giant may show data relating to the site owner’s Google Search Console property in search results when inputting a query that their website ranks for.

This data is only displayed upon searching while logged in on the Google account.

Search Console data in search results is one feature, which started showing up back in 2018.

This is an example of a summary card.

Before, website owners and SEO experts cannot select whether they view the summary cards in search results or not.

The said feature was released without any announcements and was rolled out without any options to turn it off.

But now, if you would like to search Google with your Search Console data looking back at you, you can do that.

Google Search Console

From the settings page, it is now possible to hide or display summary cards for an individual Google Console property.

If you’re managing several websites and do not wish to view the summary cards for any of them, it is possible to disable this for all properties.

Email Preferences

As said above, it is now possible for website owners to have more control over the kinds of emails they’re getting.

In the improved email preferences page, site owners can now disable or enable emails of particular types, or just disable all email notifications.

When you unsubscribe from all or just specific emails, it’s still possible to view the message in your property’s message panel. With this, you do not have to bother yourself about missing vital emails.

That being said, clicking “unsubscribe” on irrelevant messages that you get is potentially a great way to handle those emails that are sent to you.

However, in case you are inundated with Google Search Console emails to the stage where you have to consider taking action, such enhanced preferences will do it for you.

Google My Business Posts Has Resumed After Getting Temporarily Disabled

Due to the coronavirus crisis, Google My Business (GMB) has had some policy changes, as well as limited assistance and general confusion has surfaced. At the same time, a lot of SEO professionals experienced issues with listing updates and several other GMB features. Also, one important GMB tool which hasn’t been operating properly is Posts.

Posts were disabled. Now, Google claims that Posts are working after being “temporarily disabled.” The company did not provide any explanation as to why Posts have been disabled.

With their reduced support staff, Google temporarily shut down “reviews, new review replies, new short names, all videos, and all Q&A” temporarily. With regards to the return of such features, there’s still no update yet.

Why we care. Google My Business Posts are among the important tools for communicating updates to customers. And last week, Google created a special COVID-19 Post category.
