- Maverick Update
Just recently, many site owners and SEO experts have noticed significant volatility in the search result rankings. And as of now, Google has not yet given their response or commented on this so-called Maverick Update (a name given by the SEO industry).
This unconfirmed update was initially picked up by the SEO community that records changes their clients are experiencing, creating a chatter in various discussion forums and social media. Several tracking tools from Moz, RankRanger, SEMRush, Algoroo, and others also displayed similar patterns that confirmed there are fluctuations in Google’s rankings.
When asked about the unconfirmed update, Mueller stated that he has no idea about it other than the tweeting and blogging that are happening. However, he then clarified that Google always performs updates, and the main thing that everyone should be concern about is whether it’s a core update or not. On the other hand, data providers stated that the fluctuations between July 11 and July 18, was quite unusual and different, and also difficult to locate patterns with.
So while hunting algorithm updates isn’t advisable, it is important to know that it still pays to be aware of any Google updates that have affected your rankings. Doing so can also help you identify the technical changes that you’ve done in the first place. Plus, it’s even emotionally helpful to know that others are experiencing it too.
