This Is How Google Algorithms Are Adjusted Based On Queries And Not Industries

In a recent Google webmaster hangout, John Mueller of Google addressed one of the most debated topics in the SEO community: if Google algorithms are specialised depending on various industries, categories, niches and more or not. If so, then do algorithms work differently for pharmaceuticals, finance, health, and other sectors? This question may have been asked to Mueller following the discussion of how Google detects and adjusts for YMYL queries.
Mueller explained that this is not the case. Instead of looking at the industries, they pay more attention to the types of user queries. So if they find that a particular query does not come up with relevant search results, then Google may roll out algorithms to implement proper improvements. Therefore, this is something that SEO experts and webmasters must take note of when adjusting their strategies after a Google algorithm update.
As an example, Mueller said maybe some people are searching for information for different medical queries only to end up being confused because they get irrelevant results instead. However, Google will not focus on the medical industry alone or adjust the particular websites that appear in the search results. He said that if they notice that many users are becoming confused with a certain query, then they work around it to provide better results.
