During a Twitter discussion about Google’s two-pass indexing system, John Mueller explained that it’s strongly recommended to utilise HTML to get the content indexed fast. So for site owners and SEO experts who frequently produces new or updated content, know that you need such content in HTML.
In the first pass of the indexing system, Google will only look at the HTML. Then afterwards, they will do a second pass wherein they’ll check on the whole site. Mueller also clarified that there’s “no fixed timeframe” between these two passes. It may happen quickly in some cases but usually, it can take a couple of days or weeks.
This process is crucial to SEO, especially for web pages that utilise a great amount of client-side JavaScript. It’s because some information on the JavaScript-heavy web page might get missed out in the first pass. And since Mueller said that the indexing process could take weeks, then the content might not be completely indexed right after it has been published.
That’s obviously not a good thing so it’s important for Googlebot to see the main content on the first pass. But that may not happen until Googlebot has all the available resources to process the content.
So if you want to ensure that your content is properly set up in HTML, know that you can always seek the assistance of an SEO professional.
