What We Know About Official Guide On Using JavaScript To Generate Google Structured Data

Google Structured Data
Google has released a new document for developers on how to generate Google structured data with JavaScript. It now has a more in-depth direction regarding this topic. SEO experts and webmasters have been asking Google for this for a long time now since the search engine is careful from utilising structured data in JavaScript.

Uses. According to Google, "There are different ways to generate structured data with JavaScript, but the most common are using Google Tag Manager and custom JavaScript". Google Tag Manager is a platform that allows you to sort out tags on your website without editing the code. The following is what Google is advising on both methods.

Custom JavaScript. As per Google, JavaScript can be used to create all of your structured data or utilise it to include more information to server-part rendered structured data.

You can learn more about this by reading the entire help document provided by Google.

Google Tag Manager. Here are the steps to adding Google structured data via Tag Manager.

  1. Create and install Google Tag Manager on your website.
  2. Add a new Custom HTML tag to the container.
  3. Paste the preferred structured data block to the tag content.
  4. Install the container as seen in the Install Google Tag Manager section of your container's admin menu.
  5. To include the tag to your website, publish your container in the Google Tag Manager interface.
  6. Test your implementation.

Why we care. For some websites, the only method to add Google structured data is by using JavaScript. Sometimes, utilising Google Tag Manager can help efficiently deal with that structured data. For site admins and SEO services, always follow the official guide from Google when implementing structured data through JavaScript.

This Is The New Beta Device For COVID-19 Announcements Launched By Google

Google has launched a new beta device for putting up announcements for your search results listings through Google Search Console. This is part of the structured data particular to COVID-19 announcements.

This is a screenshot of the tool:

COVID

And this is the form:

FORM

This is not applicable to all websites, where Google is offering extra support in search for these health organisations.

Google said: “Government agencies and official health organizations can submit an important COVID-19 announcement on their site, particularly if they are unable to use structured data. This includes the closure of facilities, rescheduling of events, and new availability of medical facilities (for example, testing centers). Google Search uses this information to better understand the content on your web page and show the important announcement to relevant people alongside your web page result”.

The tool's limitation: This is a beta version. Google is currently developing the tool. As a result, its effects may not be seen in Google Search immediately.

  • The tool requires that announcements expire within 30 days after being published. Therefore, this is only helpful for short-term announcements.
  • If you don't set an expiration date, announcements expire seven days from the time they were posted, following its default setting.
  • The COVID-19 announcement beta tool concentrates on government and health organisations. News articles are not supported.
